School Admissions 

Our Admission Policy is in line with Local Authority (LA) requirements. There is no guarantee of a place for children at the school. The pupil admission number (PAN) is 150 for years 3, 4, 5 and 6 for 2021-2022.

In the event of over-subscription, places will be allocated using the following criteria in the order given:

1. Those having siblings attending the school

2. Those having siblings attending the partner infant school

3. Straight line distance from home to school, those living closest being given the highest priority

Appeal Information

Parents have the right to appeal to an independent admissions appeals panel, if their child is refused a place at a school they have put as a higher preference.  Even if a parent is intending to appeal, they are advised to accept the place currently being offered.

 Parents can submit an appeal by completing the appeals form on the Southend-on-Sea Borough Council website. 

The School Admission Appeals Code sets out a strict timetable for the hearing of appeals.

Parents can apply anytime for in year admissions. However, for appeals to the main round of admission: year R and year 3 September 2022, the following applies:

On time appeals must be submitted by 18 May 2022, any appeals after this date will be heard after all on time appeals are heard.

On time appeals should be heard by 21July 2022.

Late appeals are heard by the end of September or early October 2022.

Applications for overseas children

In most cases, children arriving from overseas have the right to attend schools in England.

It is the responsibility of the parents to check that their children have a right, under their visa entry conditions, to study at a school.  To help parents we recommend that those wishing to apply for a state funded school check that they have a right of abode or the conditions of their visas otherwise permit access to a state-funded school.

Foreign nationals cannot use the 6 month visitor visa or a 6 month short-term study visa to enter the UK to enrol as a pupil at a school. Find out what these visas can be used for on the visitor visa and short term study visa pages.
