VE Day Memories

As part of the 75th Anniversary of VE Day, we have enjoyed reading some memories of VE Day from the people who were there. 

It has been really interesting reading about these, especially as they relate closely to Southend and in some cases, Hamstel School.

 

We would love to add to this so, if you have any relatives or friends who remember VE Day, why not interview them and send them in so we can share their stories?

  • The Princely Burial - Prittlewell Archaeologists discovered an extraordinary Anglo-Saxon princely burial in Prittlewell in 2003, but many of its secrets remained hidden, only to be revealed as experts began their painstaking research.
  • A Virtual Tour of Windsor Castle A Royal home and fortress for over 900 years, Winsdor Castle, the largest occupied castle in the world, remains a working palace today. The Queen uses the Castle both as a private home, where she usually spends the weekend, and as an official Royal residence at which she undertakes certain formal duties from Investitures to State Visits.
